After you finish with the air filter cleaning, check you may have tank breather hose clogged. Although on most Fazer I've seen the breather hose has been completely removed long time. Check yours. When the bike dies pop the gas cap. If you hear a "whoosh" noise like air being sucked into the tank then you'll have to clean out the breather.
Finally check carb vacuum hoses. Not enough vacuum will have the same effect at high rpms.
