Yeah I was told by my mechy that you need special chargers for motobatt batteries. Don't know why though? Do they have special terminals or something?
I have the Oxford solar optimiser. Has always done the job and best of all its free to use. Just stuck it on the side of the garage in view of the sun and the wire plugs into a little socket on the side of the bike. Think it was £30 so cheap enough too

Shouldn't need a special charger for a Motobatt, they're just an AGM type battery just like any others. The ones you do need a special charger for are Lithium ones, like Shorai. They can be fried with a standard optimate or the like.
I think the reason a lot of people think Motobatts need a special charger is because they make their own and probably try to sell you one when you buy a battery from them :lol
