Dont know about the broom technique but when I refitted mine into new carb inlet rubbers I smeared a little red rubber grease around inside of new rubbers, moved the air box fully back and then inserted a thin piece of soft wood behind bank of carbs to apply even leverage to all 4-they popped in and also held them in place while i did up the clamp screws. Remove said piece of wood and move airbox fwd & refit screws & clamp rings. Dont forget to reconnect throttle cables & choke before sliding carb assy in. Dont forget to check small bore hoses for carb heater circuit & condition of fuel hoses- its a pain of a job if you are working on your own but not impossible. Finally balance carbs -job done, sorted!
