Thanks for all the reply's.
After a bit of searching I found that locks should be lubricated with a dry compound such as graphite powder.
I'm going to wash out lock with wd40 allow to dry and use graphite powder for locks.

Also found on ebay a company that will cut a new key from a scan or photo for £10
A key cut from the original will be cut with the wear from the donor key.
These guys work out the code from the key so you get a key that is brand new not a new worn copy.
