Well hello HM! The off road thing is still going on (KTM 950 SuperEnduro) but my lad has started coming out on the back and it's just the wrong tool for the job. Thought about an FJR1300 but a bit pricey as a "see if he really likes it" bike. Once we were in the car after seeing Luke's bike he said "dad it was really hard not to say JUST GET IT!!!" 
and yes it'll need a check over after a few hundred miles as it's been rebuilt but do like it.
I do like Triumph's range but again the Sprint GT was out of my range.
