Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - markie_wales - 07-02-16 After a break of a mere 9 years or so, met up with Luke this morning and agreed a deal. He dioes put a nice bike together, will probably change a couple of things for personal taste in time[1], but looking forward to having road rubber and twin front discs again. Knobblies and a single front disc with a 2 pot caliper is ok 1 up off road, but 2 up on the road? Nope. If we can all pray to the weather gods for a dry day next Saturday ..... Cheers Markie [1] Stock mirrors, Ivan's slip on, may re-powder coat the wheels black etc Will stick one of my spare gps mounts on it, autocom on and I think that'll be it. For now ![]() Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - JKay - 07-02-16 Cracking bike that, good luck Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - markie_wales - 07-02-16 Thanks JK - some nice touches on it, but like most can't leave it alone. Also want to dig into carbs for an Ivan's SO, as must be 12 years since I did my last one ![]() Cheers Markie Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - Falcon 269 - 07-02-16 Welcome back, Markie. ![]() Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - hotmetal - 08-02-16 Hey hello Markie! There's a blast from the past. Had enough KTM adventures for the time being? I remember you using my first gen 1 as a guinea-pig to demonstrate doing an Exup service in the middle of the car park at the Bike shed meet we used to do on the other Fazer Thou forum. Well I've moved on since then (had a street triple r for a few years now) but still show my face in here from time to time. If you got your bike off Luke I'm sure it'll be well sorted. Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - markie_wales - 08-02-16 Well hello HM! The off road thing is still going on (KTM 950 SuperEnduro) but my lad has started coming out on the back and it's just the wrong tool for the job. Thought about an FJR1300 but a bit pricey as a "see if he really likes it" bike. Once we were in the car after seeing Luke's bike he said "dad it was really hard not to say JUST GET IT!!!" ![]() I do like Triumph's range but again the Sprint GT was out of my range. Cheers Markie Re: Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land. - hotmetal - 08-02-16 Yeah my 'next bike' after the Fazer was always going to be the Sprint 1050 ST rather than the GT. But then by the time I chopped in the Fazer, I wanted something smaller and lighter so I got the Street. It's a lot of fun, just as comfy, handles brilliantly, though not as good as a gen 1 Fazer for distance/luggage/pillion and it's a bit thirsty. I reckon you're right to go back to a gen 1 for pillion work rather than an FJR13 or Sprint though. Now why did I sell my Carbtune??? Cheers Markie |
