I looked into silicone spray but appears to just be a lubricant version (is this any good on chains btw?)

I dont think its the cost so much (is it ? ) but more like the faf in changing them, from what I hear the new ones are a pig to get back on 
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
