I don't know if its still the case but the previous gen oxford controller used to switch off when the system voltage dropped below a certain amount, and for a lot of people this happened at idle while commuting.

That would suggest their charging system isn't very good .....Current Oxford Hot Grips uses the v8 wired directly to the battery. Been using one on my Speed Triple for the last 2 years without any problems at all. But then I do keep my bikes in good nick
