There's no really easy way of doing this as any of the routes you follow will require the Fazer steering stem to be grafted into the lower yoke from either an R1 or Gen 2 FZ1 or FZ8. The guide I linked to gives one way of doing this but there are others.
Fitting the Gen 1 stem into an R1 or FZ1/FZ8 lower yoke requires a spacer to resolve the difference in yoke thickness (top and lower) in order to get the bearing tracks in the correct position and enable the top yoke adjuster nuts and stem nut to fit. Again, my guide gives dimensions for the combination of parts I used on my bike.
One of the US FZ1OA members, Brian G, did come up with a very nicely made custom stem with dimensions specifically to fit a particular combination of R1/FZ1 yokes (details escape me) without the need for a spacer. Unfortunately, it was a limited production run and all were snapped up quickly at the time. You could try asking him for the drawings if you know an engineering shop which could machine one for you. Won't be cheap, though.
Modding an R1 top yoke to take Gen 1 bar clamps and bars is the cheapest way to go. Custom top yokes are pricey. Another option there is the LSL handlebar conversion for the R1. Match the LSL top yoke with the correct year of R1 lower yoke, do the stem transplant - with spacer - and you have a neat conversion. At a price.

Devilsyam has years of experience doing all sorts with Fazers and has contacts to do the machining required. Naturally, his expertise and time deserve reward.
It would be great if there were one basic way of doing this very worthwhile mod with easy to follow instructions - but there ain't. Those of us who've done try our best to share what we did and how we did it. The information is out there for you to digest and act on but hand-holding isn't something that can be done via the internet.
