depends where the gouge is, can you describe which surface i.e. the surface that the blades contact or the side surfaces. Usually a flatten with sand paper will do it.
hi nick...the sides of the impeller casing are good, the mark is on the bottom of the casing, you can just about feel it with your fingernail, iam sure it will clean up with a fine grade wet and dry or simular....just found one on ebay.£10 +free delivery from PACER MARINE

Should be alright, clean it up, you have to think is the impeller blade going to get destroyed by the mark, that is maybe what happened to the original impeller.
