I have painted many garage doors Nick.
The best way I have found for finish and speed is to thin down the undercoat and gloss with white spirits and use a roller to apply, then a large brush immediately after as you are going to get rid of the orange peel effect the gloss roller leaves.
Make sure you use a gloss roller and not an emulsion one and what size you use is up to you but if there ate tricky little panels onit iI would use a 4". If not I'd use a 9" roller and smooth it off with a decent 4" brush.
Failing that, see if Devilsyam can carbon dip it.
