I've just fitted a set of Vario 30mm adjustable footpegs (from M&P on ebay - £89.99) to my fazer and found they help with my knees quite a lot. I reckon they and a set of risers will help you out.

Having done a few hundred miles commuting now I can say they're a bag of shite and I've wasted my money.
Yes the 30mm drop makes my knees more comfy, but there are other things wrong now.
On the left side, the 8 position adjusting bracket produces too much sideways offset, meaning I have to really twist my foot inwards for my toe to reach the gear lever, so much so that I now rest my foot on the peg hinge while changing up and only use the peg itself when cruising.
On the right side, the brake pedal is much bigger so the offset isn't an issue. However, there's no adjustment in the pedal, so when I fitted the footpeg with a 30mm drop it effectively raised the pedal. I now have to lift my foot off the peg to use the rear brake and risk locking the back wheel up.
Gonna have to refit some standard pegs pretty soon.  :rolleyes
