I agree, but oddly the play in the linkage (which you can feel by lifting the back wheel) is slightly less if you tighten the linkage bearings up with the bike on the side stand as opposed to the centre stand. I have no idea why it turns out this way but I seen it myself a couple of times. Bit of a headscratcher.....
