If it's the same as the windy roads on my tomtom (and why wouldn't it be) it's an alternative to the "shortest" or "quickest" options. It's the fun option. I used it "in anger" for the first time on the way to trier, through the eifel mountains last year, and it took me down some glorious, challenging, roads that I would never have found, going either quickest or shortest. So good, I'm making a point of going back on my way to Austria in June.
