Sheared rad lug
#1
Went to fit a s/s rad guard today. A glance at the Phillips screw heads at the bottom two days ago I just knew it was going to be a PITA. So, been spraying them with penetrating fluid and had a crack at it today. One cracked off ok, the other wasn't having it. Tried heat, more penetrating spray, gave a gentle whack with an impact driver but didn't like doing it on the rad.  Ended up chewing up the head so out came the grinder. cut a slot in the head and gave it some with a flat head. Not having none of it. The next step was to grind off the head, centre punch and drill out and find my stud extractor set.  I ran out of options when the lug sheered off when I was ay the stud extractor stage. So, can I get the lug or a new one brazed or welded on to my rad or shall I just rely on  my little dob of silicone to keep it in place ?
Then to top it all I noticed a thick steel staple in the rear tyre that hissed at me when I attempted to remove it. Too late to get it repaired, needless to say it got pushed back in. :wall  Today, was not a good day but I should have known not to touch anything mechanical after my works van blew a hole in the gearbox on Friday. :oops
