A low temperature should suffice (Gas Mark 2, maybe 3?)
You only want them in there for about 15 minutes I think, just enough to soften the glue, not melt the entire unit
Smell wise... shouldn't be horrific providing you don't melt anything... but if we factor in the "Christo failure quotient" then you're pretty much focced
