As mentioned above, the pattern parts can be a risk. My first one lasted 5 miles because there was no crimp stoping the last section of the cover sliding back up into the metal middle section. The result was the lever got closer and closer to the bar without the clutch engaging. Its replacement had a bare minimum crimp but knowing what to look for, I was able to beef it up myself. Even so, it has only lasted a couple of thousand miles bit is now getting gritty no matter how much I lube it. I suspect the internal liners have worn through and the cable is on its way out. Time to bite the bullet and get an OEM.
