What is an FZS1000 gen1??

I thought they only ever did the frame in 2 colours - early ones a dark silver/grey, late models black? Never seen a frame done in a light silver. Same with engines, light silver or black. Have had 4 pre-2003 bikes now, all with dark silver/grey frames.
