Lew, your mention of the Wirral brings to mind Andy Wilkinson of the Port Sunlight Wheelers who holds the records for the longest distances covered by a cyclist in 12 hours and 24 hours. In 2012, at the age of 48, he won a 12 hour race, covering 317.97 miles. In 2011 he won a 24 hour race with a distance of 541.17 miles. I think that this puts into perspective some of the distances that we bikers cover.
