Most miles ever in a day - lew600fazer - 02-09-13

Probably been done to death this , but what is the most miles you have ever done in a day.
For me it was 769 miles from Limoux SW France to Dover via Calais ferry port. I was ridding a Honda CBF 1000 GT. Surprisingly I was not to tired numb bum and a bit of backache most of that was on route national roads. A hot shower and a few pints a good nights sleep and then another 320 miles from Dover to Hoylake on the Wirral. I was 61 at the time.
I have done this ride several times as I had a home down there in a village called Alet les Bains but that was the only time I did it in one go through France.
In April this year I did the Z1000 SX forum spring meeting around North Wales 170 miles on the Saturday. On the Sunday Wirral to Dover, 320 miles. Ferry in the morning to Calais then on to Bordeaux think that is about 700 miles, stopped over at my sons in Bordeaux (some nice French twat slashed my seat in Bordeaux)from Bordeaux to Benissa, Costa Blanca, again about 550miles arrived on the Tuesday evening. Had again numb bum backache and had to stand in the shower for half an hour just to get mobile again, ached for days. The Honda CBF is more comfortable for touring than my Kawasaki Z1000SX, or else the fact that I am pushing 65 had something to do with it.
I now have the wee FZ6 and I can knock up 150 /200 miles on that on a ride out before I start getting uncomfortable and that is on the twisties and mountain roads.

Luxembourg to Derby, I think it was just over 500 miles.

Was a tough ride but was more or less OK the next day.

For pleasure I do 200 fairly routinely, can do and enjoy 300 but it's pushing it.

Pisa to Calais, 843 miles one hit, stopped only for fuel,coffee and a ciggie, BMW K100 RT ( built for the job ) shoulder ached a bit, waited a couple of hours on boat back to London.

Total travel time JOG to LE 16hrs.
Average speed 65.5 - *68.7mph

850 miles, Portsmouth,M25,Folkstone,Milau, a bloody good ride,thanks to the VFR, never again though, it was not my choice, my stupid mate did the organising. :lol ===fool

bit different but just done a transatlantic crossing, travelled for 7 days non stop, from the carribean to Britain about 5000 I think. :lol

About to do that - but over three weeks, taking a 44ft Catamaran from the Azores to the Carribean as a crewmember. That's my October plan...

Nice one , but at 45 year at sea in the Merchant navy , glad my sailing days are over.

Lew, your mention of the Wirral brings to mind Andy Wilkinson of the Port Sunlight Wheelers who holds the records for the longest distances covered by a cyclist in 12 hours and 24 hours. In 2012, at the age of 48, he won a 12 hour race, covering 317.97 miles. In 2011 he won a 24 hour race with a distance of 541.17 miles. I think that this puts into perspective some of the distances that we bikers cover.

I bumped into some guys in the pub on Friday after me over hearing them jokingly challenging two huge bikers to a fight......as our conversations got deeper into some great biking stories, they told me that the best time they ever had was earlier this year four of them taking Honda C90's through the ALPS!!!!!!!!!.........and one of them is in Repsol colours........have you ever bumped into these guys on your C90 events or meets

Mike , what kind of saddle does he have on his bike, if I go round the on my push bike I am in agony.
As you say that would put most of us to shame.
The Wirral basically started of the revival of British cycling, my next door neighbour from years ago was non other than Chris Boardman. I bought an apartment from him a few years back and still have it.

Probably Glasgow to Lille in one hit, but tend to not mind London to Glasgow type days, as long as it's dry.
Longest EVER day was from the Dare meet, met Shitehawk half way up and both of us created an indoor pool with theatre out our kit.
First time I rode with bin bags UNDER my goretex to keep slightly dry, would have been better with a jet ski...

623 miles from Riogordo, just north of Malaga, to Bilbao on a pre V-tec VFR800. I usually take two days to do that trip but completed it in one to avoid having to ride through incoming storms. Good job I did as the storms were the worst they had experienced in a few years and the roads were lethal. The bike, being a VFR, was absolutely faultless as you would expect and even I was in a reasonable state at the end.

Brittany- Newcastle 780 miles in 13.5hrs
