Do I need a power commander & FCE problem?
#1

i am just getting the FZ1N sorted out. Brilliant bikes, and the third FZ I have owned - two gen 1's previously. Pilot road 3's, new brake fluid & AA pads, have fitted a road legal fuel exaust and K&N filter as the standard filter was manky and I am not a big fan of paper filters. Have not messed with the air box in any way.
Do I need a power commanded to stop the fuelling running too weak, or will the standard system cope ok? I do not rev the diddies off the bike - Usually keep revs between 5 - 8k on the bendy bits, and am not into high speeds as I have been done for doing three figures in previous years!
Fitted an Ivan's FCE but the ECU light came on. I am a qualified electrical assembler so no, it was not fitted incorrectly, or poorly crimped. I used the Ivan crimps I fitted to put back to standard and everything was OK. Any ideas why the light came on? the bike started and revved up ok, and the tickover dropped when it was connected. Have read something about starting it with the side stand up etc but what has the sidestand circuit got to do with the fuelling circuit? (nothing i would think!)
Any useful advice would be gratefully accepted. useful ideas about improving ground clearance would also be good as I am destroying the footpegs at a rapid rate, even with the shock set to a highish preload.
