There are a few reasons pubs are shutting but the main driver is the price difference between pubs and supermarkets. If there was less financial incentive to getting loaded on tinnies and vodka before a night out then I'd assume, like in the past, people would go out for a drink. Why not introduce minimum pricing for supermarkets and drop the tax on alcohol served in pubs?
