I will always do a quick check on the price comparison sites just to see if my renewal is in the right ballpark. If the prices are about the same and I'm happy with my current insurer then I will usually stay with then.
I was originally with MCE and paid about £450~ for my first year - at renewal they magically wanted £600?! So I promptly switched to Bennetts for a much reduced £200~
