I don't know if you were issued a official PCN (penalty charge notice) or not. I work as a civil enforcement officer (most call it traffic warden but that's the old police based ones not the new devolved council run ones like me)
As others have said if its not an official PCN then its pretty safe to just ignore it. The problem comes if it is a PCN as they have a lot more backup from law. Best way to deal with those is to Allways contest the ticket. No matter how guilty you are, as if a mistake has been made in issue ( eg photos wrong or Reg entered wrong etc) it will cancel the ticket. This costs you a stamp and 20 mins typing a letter.
If you get turned down and are guilty you still get the 50% option so have lost nothing.
If you not guilty then you can re contest to an independent board.
If your worried scan it both side and I might be able to tell if its real. There are some really good unofficial ones about though and as every area has diff pcn's it can be a bitch to tell.
