grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 20-04-13 My Mrs drove me to luton airport for me to pick up my hire car. We stopped very briefly to drop me off, it was dark and we were unfamiliar with the airport and it's roads etc …… Yesterday in post we get a letter, fine of £80 for not parking in the correct zone. Well needless to say I'm fuming! I'm contesting this ………… Yes I've Googled and got more info which I won't go into here. Anyone else had similar experience?? Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - DILLIGAFF - 20-04-13 My local high street has a stealth tax CCTV camera up on top of a pole. Local shopkeeper pointed it out to me after he had received 3 phantom tickets and no sign of a traffic warden. I sat bemused in a wine bar there yesterday and watched a succession of either ignorant or "dont give a foc" motorists brazenly parking on zig zags and disabled bays. I hope they all get tickets, they deserve them. IMHO you didn't. :'( Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Grahamm - 20-04-13 (20-04-13, 07:25 AM)Bluecray link Wrote: My Mrs drove me to luton airport for me to pick up my hire car. Is it actually a legal parking fine (Penalty Charge Notice, I think) or a "demand for payment" or similar? If the latter, ignore it. See http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3027572 It's very probably not a legally enforceable but just an invoice that they send you and follow up with various threatening letters, but you most likely have no obligation to pay. [/quote] Ditto. Had one of these for overstaying in Asda. Ignored it (as per MoneySaving advice)and nothing more happened. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 20-04-13 Thanks guys, have written a letter to them stating why I felt we weren't in breach of their contract, sent it special delivery too so they'll have to sign it. :lol Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - cable tie - 21-04-13 We got done the same east mid airport dropped off wifey and than nxt thing got a ticket in the post from private firm for £60 , however its civil all they will do is keep sending letters with demands to scare you to pay, she wanted to pay because she was scared but i was having none of it, I sent them a letter with a payment of £5 as a gesture of goodwill stating this is a final payment for the parking charge and that was generous as you don't even have to do that just ignore. I'm was told its only the council and police that can enforce parking tickets legally ! Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Streetbudgie - 22-04-13 If it says Parking Charge Notice then it's a Private Parking Company and the recommendation is that you no longer ignore these but send a dispute any charge due and prove you have authority to charge and bog off letter. Do some reading on Consumer Advice Group forum private parking charges (google cag forum) and you will see that these charges are unenforceable invoices. I have had plenty and ignored them all and after an ever increasing in desperation letter chain they simply go away. I'd say it's a private company. The MSE page will cover the options anyway, I'm sure. It's an excellent site. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 04-05-13 its now been two weeks since the original letter and my stiff reply.......this is at the point where we could have paid off the fine for half £40 rather than £80. No reply from them as yet........ I expect I will get a reply when the 28 days is up???? Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - ghostbiker - 04-05-13 I don't know if you were issued a official PCN (penalty charge notice) or not. I work as a civil enforcement officer (most call it traffic warden but that's the old police based ones not the new devolved council run ones like me) As others have said if its not an official PCN then its pretty safe to just ignore it. The problem comes if it is a PCN as they have a lot more backup from law. Best way to deal with those is to Allways contest the ticket. No matter how guilty you are, as if a mistake has been made in issue ( eg photos wrong or Reg entered wrong etc) it will cancel the ticket. This costs you a stamp and 20 mins typing a letter. If you get turned down and are guilty you still get the 50% option so have lost nothing. If you not guilty then you can re contest to an independent board. If your worried scan it both side and I might be able to tell if its real. There are some really good unofficial ones about though and as every area has diff pcn's it can be a bitch to tell. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 04-05-13 scan and post where ghostbiker ? letter is only one sided does that help~?? Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Streetbudgie - 04-05-13 (04-05-13, 02:12 PM)Bluecray link Wrote: its now been two weeks since the original letter and my stiff reply.......this is at the point where we could have paid off the fine for half £40 rather than £80. It's not a fine. Only the Police, Local Government and Courts can issue fines. It is an unenforceable invoice which you can ignore or pay, up to you. Personally I would not pay it as they are not legally enforceable, they will send you lots of threatening letters talking about courts and damaged credit ratings all of which is bollocks and will not happen. Go to Consumer Advice Group forum and do some reading in the Private Parking Tickets section, you soon realise it's nothing to worry about and treat their begging letters like any other junk mail. It's most likely just an invoice I highly doubt that area would be covered by council. By scan I ment post a pic of it up here. Just cover up your details first with some paper or tape. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 10-05-13 Sorry for delay ghostbiker herewith is the letter, Hang on Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - simonm - 10-05-13 You missed a reg number there lad. 10 plate huh. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 10-05-13 Ta here it is again [smg id=840 type=preview align=center caption="PicsArt 1368211937755"] Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - ghostbiker - 10-05-13 That is a very well worded and convincing notice. But it is not a penalty charge notice. Ignore it. One of the best I have seen. The firm itself can issue penalty charge notices as they also do onstreet and council contracts. But that is not one. Re: grrr so called parking ticket ………………… - Bluecray - 10-05-13 Many thanks ghostbiker about another 6 days to go till 28 days up then I expect they'll send another letter, I'll see ………… |
