Fitting an end can question

Just starting to fit my new end can to my FZ1 S and in the on line tutorial that someone kindly posted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om3ZvUqKnfQ it states to drill out the cat honeycomb from the collector box - is this recommended and legal in the UK?
Will it stop the bike being MOTable? |
