Fitting an end can question - Streetbudgie - 26-04-13 Just starting to fit my new end can to my FZ1 S and in the on line tutorial that someone kindly posted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om3ZvUqKnfQ it states to drill out the cat honeycomb from the collector box - is this recommended and legal in the UK? Will it stop the bike being MOTable? Re: Fitting an end can question - Dead Eye - 26-04-13 I would suggest this is akin to de-cating a car which isn't legal. If a vehicle is supposed to have a cat then it must have a cat - at least that's how I understand it Re: Fitting an end can question - Streetbudgie - 26-04-13 Almost at the point where I need to decide to remove the honeycomb cat or not - not sure what do? Re: Fitting an end can question - red98 - 26-04-13 remove the cat on a car and that will upset the lamda probe readings :eek probs best to check with the supplier....you cant believe everything you see on the interweb ![]() Re: Fitting an end can question - red98 - 26-04-13 play safe and fit it without removing the cat...take it for a test ride and see what its like.....my monies on leaving it in ![]() Re: Fitting an end can question - Streetbudgie - 26-04-13 Pretty much my thinking, cheers guys, have just rung the two old boys that do my MOTs and they said it isn't part of the MOT on bikes yet but it on cars - also he thinks the MOT is about to change and this will be one of the tings introduced for bikes although it will probably apply to new bikes onwards - mines a 2007 Think I'll leave it in and see how it goes, must be others on here with FZ1 with aftermarket cans - what have they done? Re: Fitting an end can question - locksmith - 26-04-13 Leave it well alone! Re: Fitting an end can question - DekF - 26-04-13 The cat will cause a restriction in flow & will negate to an extent the benefits you'd receive from the aftermarket endcan you've chosen. It's a no brainer, remove it & you'll get increased performance for free. The lambda sensor will still function as intended. There's thousands of owners who've done this mod & have nothing but praise for it. As for the MOT even if they introduced it the rules wouldn't be retrospective. Re: Fitting an end can question - slimwilly - 27-04-13 I drilled mine ,gone, perfect zoooom ![]() Re: Fitting an end can question - Dead Eye - 27-04-13 I wonder, is it possible to remove it in a slightly less destructive manner? Not so much for reconstruction, but to sell it for the valuable materials inside ![]() |
