Not much you can do without remove the carbs I think, removing there won't do any harm as long as you get as good of seal on the airbox and intake headers as is already on it, then you will have a good grasp on the adjuster. Maybe if you have the time or patience the carbs might need a good cleaning, depending on how long it's been since they were cleaned but if its running sweet as a nut maybe best to leave well alone, up to you but that's what I would do after going to all the bother of taking the carbs out, hopefully a little gentle persuasion might free it(hammerÂ
