idle speed adjustment. - john 087 - 09-04-13 HI All, I have a 98 Fazer the idle speed is a bit high at 1500 rpm, the cable that adjusts it is seized, is there any other way to bring the idle speed or would I be better and just leave it alone as the bike is going well. It has almost 58000 miles on it. Many Thanks. John Re: idle speed adjustment. - reillypadraig - 09-04-13 Not much you can do without remove the carbs I think, removing there won't do any harm as long as you get as good of seal on the airbox and intake headers as is already on it, then you will have a good grasp on the adjuster. Maybe if you have the time or patience the carbs might need a good cleaning, depending on how long it's been since they were cleaned but if its running sweet as a nut maybe best to leave well alone, up to you but that's what I would do after going to all the bother of taking the carbs out, hopefully a little gentle persuasion might free it(hammer ![]() Re: idle speed adjustment. - john 087 - 09-04-13 I have the bike over 3 years and the carbs were never touched, I think i will leave it alone as the bike is going well. Many thanks. Re: idle speed adjustment. - His Dudeness - 09-04-13 If you can lift the tank you might be able to get some wd40 down onto the end of the idle adjuster. Re: idle speed adjustment. - john 087 - 09-04-13 will try that as its due a service soon and i have to change the fuel filter. Re: idle speed adjustment. - AdieR - 10-04-13 If it's running ok, I'd leave it be for now. Re: idle speed adjustment. - alexanderfitu - 10-04-13 To adjust the idle, you twist the big thumb wheel on the left hand side of the carbs. The thingy on the throttle is only for cable slack ![]() |
