+1 for Kevlar jeans - I wear these for the comfort and ease of walking around when not on the bike 
Pretty sure mine only cost me £50-£60 from eBay. They have worn a bit around the crotch area, but I seem to do that to all trousers I wear... thankfully, my mother is a sewing machinist so its damn easy to get them repaired and have additional material added to extend their life.
