putting a written off bike back on the road

bitten the bullet.
It's a Cat D write off.

If I replace the plastics (I only need to do a couple - the rest are the other bikes paint that will polish off)
  - can I return it to the road?

do I need to notify anyone?  Does it need to be inspected?

I imagine it'll affect the resale value in due course - if it ever gets sold - but by how much?
