A lad i work with got his car rear ended and wrote off by a drunk driver who had no license (but did have insurance).
...the insurance didn't pay up! The reason, i hear you type?

..... he was 15 days into the 14 day notification period after a move of address.
He called insurance to update his records that very morning. They tried to charge his card at the new address. It bounced because the post code and address didnt match.
He was driving to the bank to update his address at the time of the crash because they wouldnt do an address change over the phone.
It went to court and the insurance company lost in the end, but he was without a car for months and it took nearly 2 years to settle.
