I had a similar problem with an old honda/oxford grips. Gave up with them-everytime they turned off I'd have to remove my hand from the warmth of the handlebar muff into the cold! I'm currenlty using R&G heated grips (as the oxford ones are now ridicuously expensive -£60+?!!) wired via the brown (ignition on live) no problems through revs and it remembers the heat setting when the ignition is turned on/off! Highly recommended!
