The speed sensor has to have the lugs seated correctly on the left side of the wheel, a common problem is that they snap when not lined up when putting the wheel back on. Only way to check is by taking the wheel off.
I s'pose they could break when moving but that's not too common. Look at #15

You may have an issue with the TPS though. For starters check that it's not unplugged itself.
Otherwise, turn the ignition switch on, then unplug the TPS, the black plug type thing sitting on the right side of the carbs, and see what the rev counter does, if it goes to 5000 it's all good.
