speedo showing 0mph!speed sensor knackered ? - Enceladus - 23-09-12 out for a ride today with a group of lads and my speedo suddenlywent from 40mph to 0 and stayed there. one of the lads said it could be the speed sensor as his did something similar. he also said that when he took the revs over 10k it would show 0, 4k, actual until turned off and restarted. got the chance to do this later and mine does the same. so...... is it the speed sensor ? if so, where can i get one ? and .... are they easy to fit (wherever they are!) ? thanks Re: speedo showing 0mph!speed sensor knackered ? - green_rider - 23-09-12 The speed sensor is the cable that goes to the front axle. If the sensor is knackered then you need to remove the front wheel to replace it. Its not a huge job if you can prop up the front end with a jack or paddock stand. Re: speedo showing 0mph!speed sensor knackered ? - darrsi - 23-09-12 The speed sensor has to have the lugs seated correctly on the left side of the wheel, a common problem is that they snap when not lined up when putting the wheel back on. Only way to check is by taking the wheel off. I s'pose they could break when moving but that's not too common. For starters check that it's not unplugged itself. First of all, check the lugs as darrsi mentioned. If they are intact then its a bit more of a pain as you likely need the new sender unit. I was quoted £100 for it, but my mechanic suggested looking for a second hand one. I ended up finding someone breaking a Fazer who still had the part which cost me £25 delivered instead - so certainly worth shopping if you can. The 0k, 4k, actual revs thing is the diagnostics of the TPS telling you that something is wrong.
