Had this problem loads of times with Oxford grips, especially when wired up via the loom or into an ignition live.
I contact Oxford a few years ago and they said that their grips are designed to run directly via the battery and not into the bikes electrics.
Since then I have always wired them up this way without a problem. Do need to give it some revs though  Wink
