thought if you removed the servo motor it threw up an error ? (this a Gen 2 Fazer)

'Best performance' is such a vague term. Best peak power? Best fuel economy? Best for smooth power delivery in the mid-range? Best of minimum vibes/throttle response etc etc.
Didn't realise the PC could limit as well as add fuel, makes sense when you think about it :think
