First, you won't stuff up your motor using one of Duken's maps. He's done several (all available freely from the US FZ1OA forum site) and they're all good, safe loads.
I believe some folks remove the EXUP servo motor from Gen IIs and put the PC unit there. However, since the puncture repair kit doesn't require wiring into the bike (and only gets used once in a blue moon) surely better to zip tie that under the fairing panel or whereever ... ?
A PCIII and/or PC V unit allow infinite adjustment of the fuelling across the rev range, adding or reducing fuel as required. It effectively over-rides the ECU provided that the O2 sensor is disabled.
'Best performance' is such a vague term. Best peak power? Best fuel economy? Best for smooth power delivery in the mid-range? Best of minimum vibes/throttle response etc etc.
