Hyperpro spring kit
#7
'Large chap' = big-boned?  ;-) that explains the problem.

The bottom line is that the fzs600 like most other budget bikes uses forks with damper rod mechanisms, which are just...ok. Cartridge fork design is superior but nothing from other bikes can be fitted without major ball-ache.

Fitting Hagons & slightly heavier oil apparently helps a fair bit, but they are a one size fits all progressive spring, as indeed are the OEM springs. Linear springs matched to your weight would be a better idea, probably 0.95kg/mm or 1.0kg/mm. The standard springs are dual rate but work out around 0.75kg/mm, suitable for a 10 stone rider - not enough to support you even with preload maxed out! Search the old Foccer site for Hagon front fork spring conversions & how they were rated.

I'd still go with either Hagons or K-tech springs for the front. My GoldValve conversion effectively emulates a cartridge fork and offers much more damping variability with preload, compression and rebound, but probably isnt a cost effective solution for you.
