Re-waterproofing gear

Detergents will break down the durable Water repellent (dwr) coating so don't wash with normal washing powder. Nikwax tech wash is the right stuff to clean it with and then Nikwax tx direct puts on a new dwr coating to get the beading of water on the surface back. Saying all that I used a bottle of scotch guard on my jacket last time it lost its beading effect - which seems to have lasted loads longer, but I don't think it's very breathable!!
