Quick action throttle
#1
I've been having a bit of a problem with my wrist and was wondering if any of you guys use a quick action throttle on their Thou' and does it make for an easier ride?

Thanks,. Mickey

Nt used one but I would have thought it made for a harder ride as throttle inputs would be magnified so not as easy to apply small changes

Quick action throttles tend to pull a lot of cable per degree of rotation, so might be a bit aggressive on a "Thou"?...Perfectly fine on a track bike but a rd bike needs a bit more throttle finesse.

Apparently an R6 throttle tube has a larger cable drum, hence pulls more cable than a standard Gen 1 "Thou" throttle tube, not as aggressive as a full on quick action but better than a "Thou" (apparently) ?
I'm considering getting one for mine.
Not sure if throttle housing will need some mods but it's been done before so i guess all the info is on web somewhere.

Cheap enough new, loads on Fleabay.

Interesting. I have small hands and bad wrist pains from a few broken wrists as a kid so a shorter action would suit me. I suppose the aggressiveness could be tuned out with getting used to it like most things. I'll have to look into the R6 option. Thanks

Would having large grips (as in heated grips, off in this weather obviously) but it make it much easier I have found to turn the throttle

That's another good idea

R6 tube on mine, works very well, gen 2, all the worries of jerkiness, harsh action is utter rubish

Thanks Slim, do you think this would work OK on a Gen1? Is it just a change the part mod. One for one?

I fitted one to a ZX10R which was ridden on the road 99% of the time. You soon get used to the throttle and it was very easy to ride. I would do it if I were you.
