Carb Idle adjuster difficulty
#1
i thought I'd have a go at Ivan's TPS adjustment today
However I can't get the idle screw adjuster to set the idle above 1800 rpm  :'( no matter how much I turn it
It will allow me to return back to normal idle speed but when blipping the throttle after the revs sort of hang around a bit at 4000 and drop back slowly.
Anyone got a clue why I can't get the idle above 1800.

Why you trying to idle it above 1800? I'm only asking because today I was trying to get my pissing TPS sorted so increased my idle from around 1000 to the recommended 1250-1350 (again I found the screw difficult to turn by hand) in the end I couldn't get the TPS to read anything but 10000
So far I have had new plugs, carbs cleaned and balanced as well, I did briefly see the correct 5000 reading but it then shot up to 10000 so I just moved it back to the position it was in and tightened screws, bike seems to run OK so fuck it.

The Ivans method of setting the TPS requires setting the idle to 3800 rpm before adjusting the TPS

Mmmmm it only suggests that method for re-jetted bikes and not stock setup. Unfortunately I don't what mine is because the fuckwit who owned it before me only rode it 4 times in two years and two of those times it ended up on the deck.

Sorry bud thought you did as is the 1000 forum.
600 TPS should be easy enough to set up , do the check , disconnect TPS turn on ignition ,code will read 0k 5k or  10 k undo TPS move until it reads 5k , tighten it up unless that's what you've been doing then I'm stumped or post thread in 600 section

Told you I was pissed haha, yeah tried all the usual, ignition on, remove TPS connector and connect it back up, it reads 10000, I then undo bolts swivel it about a bit and it doesn't budge for shit, tightened it back up and left it, swore at it a few times then went in house to drink ale.
