Spark Plugshi
#1
evening all,

Decided to tackle the servicing myself, plugs, oil change, coolant change etc.I have removed the radiator to get rid of th AIS system as well.Problem with that, but that's in another post.

Problem is I can't get the bloody spark plugs out, I've unscrewed no1 with Halfords spark plug remover with the rubber bit inside, but it's just not pulling the plug out.Ive heard the plug wrench from the toolkit works well, but I don't have one.Does anyone have one I could buy or borrow.

Or does anyone have a better idea, access is easy with radiator and AIS removed.

No worries. You tried a magnetic screwdriver or a bit of tube just the right internal diameter to push over the tip of the plug and grab it?

ogri48,
I've tried the clear hose from my scotoiler it's a tighish fit,but can't get a good grip on it.I'll try the magnetic approach.

Fazerider.......if only..???

Might sound silly but the plugs in the Fazers are long reach plugs have you completely unscrewed it?

Also it's worth making sure there is no dirt or crud in the plug 'well' before removing the plug or you might get dirt falling inside the cylinder head.

I shove some bluetack up the socket, works well.

Also works well at holding the new plugs in place when fitting them down the head. I don't have the OEM spark plug tool but find a combination of 3" and 6" extensions along with a universal / knuckle joint works OK.

I use the same as PieEater, never had an issue. When I first changed the plugs I wondered what all the fuss was about.
