If you haven't got the 7k error code, its good start. Have good look at the bolts on the housing, see if they are rusted, if so proceed with caution. If you can get the cover off then you can check working of the valve and cables. Use some penetrating fluid to soak before undoing anything.
Servicing the exup is easy once you can undo bolts. This should be done every service for a trouble free life. There is in depth guide on Pat's motorcycle page.
Hi, Great, will see what its like when i dig it out of the garage, the bolts did,nt look rusty so hopefully its ok, will keep everyone posted and hopefully get some pics when i get a chance to upload them
Nice one Boxer, if you get stuck with exup plenty help on here
Thanks, its great to be on a fazer 1000 gen 1 again, miss my lava red 05 one, but the blue one i just bought a minter will enjoy it
Didn't realise you have owned one before.
Shows what a great bike they are, when folks return to them
Yes this will be my 3rd gen 1 my first was a silver one, then the lava red and now the blue, so well versed in them, just wondered why the latest one has a few differences , am visiting alan duffus in kirkaldy tomorrow so hopefully get some answers there , all in all am very happy with it.
They say blue one's are the fastest, but dark grey is the stealthier
Yes i,ve heard the blue ones were fastest :evil like the grey , also like the yellow limited edition :lol
Blue's the best colour anyway
US bikes also had BIG indicators as stock... a good clue too.
Taz of Peterborough did sell a shed load of US spec FZ-1s( gen2) in 06 and 07. They made a right rats tail of the wiring to switch it over on mine though...so be careful if you fit any tail tidy for example...

its MPH in the states not KPH.
Unless you're a Hardly rider. They have speedos calibrated in FPD.
Furlongs Per Decade.
Thought you meant Feet per Day :lol
my gen 1 has big indicators, not sure where it came from but will check the sevice book when i get a moment, i was at alan duffus today but when i asked about it the guy i asked seemed vague in his answer, he seemed to think it was a crossover model but he did,nt seem sure, he also said the hazard and flasher switchgear could,nt be retro fitted :'( but not sure if he actually knew, so the mystery continues, :o :o :o
