Rear sets

Hi guys,

I'm converting my Fazer into a cafe racer and need some rear sets and don't fancy spending 340 odd quid on some Gilles ones!  :eek

Any cheaper suggestions?

I made my own the 30x5 MS strip came from B&Q
They raise the footrests up 20mm and back10mm

I used 8mm x 20mm cap head bolts to hold the footrests with a std washer between the Brk and the footest to give enough clearance for the head of Fazer bolts holding the Brk to the bike.

Edit :- In the photo I hadn't made the gearlink extension just moved the lever around the splines.

I'll give it a go but without the use of a lathe or milling machine, I'm going to have to try with a hacksaw and angle grinder! LOL  :lol

No lathe or Milling M/c, Just a Hacksaw,a File or two ,a cheap pedestal drill a couple of drills and metric taps.
Come on you can do it

i've modified a few bikes over the years and used whatever was available. cbr600 rear sets are fairly cheap on ebay, but i would usually weld a suitable plate to suit. not something you can do on an assembled bike very easily though.

Well, thanks to YFM's very helpful drawing, I've successfully made and fitted the riser plates and they feel great, although I still might get rearsets in the future when funds allow for an even racier position.

I was going to post pictures of them but my footrest hangers look horrible!  :lol

Anyone recommend something to clean oily, corroded, alloy hangers?

i have just made a set of these myself
i used different dimensions.
basically new hole centres are back 15mm and up 20mm. and for my short legs they feel pretty good
i used 1 of these and a 6mm bolt with the head cut off to extend the gear change rod

I also made some Rear Footrest Hangers that moved the footrests forward 50mm and down 50mm
The wife was getting cramp on the pillion.

I've got a set just like them in the garage but made from stainless steel. I'll look tomorrow and if I can find them you can have them

Good idea. The missus is always complaining about cramp on longer journerys, so maybe I'll give it a go. On the other hand, if the standard set-up means I get more Sunday blasts without a pillion getting in the way...........

just to add to this thread, I am in the process of adapting my SES rearsets from one of my Ducati's to fit the FZS. the bolt holes are only 2mm out, so a tiny amount of filing is needed   they may be an option for you too?

I will let you know, with pics... it hasn't been too hard making them fit.
I just now need to dig out my shift lever, as I much prefer 'race pattern' gear shift

With the Ducati rearsets fitted have you pushed the bike off the centerstand.
I seem to recall the lever that you put your foot on when operating the centerstand with my mod fitted came quite close to the footrest
and the Ducati ones look a lot further back and may clash with the centerstand foot lever.
