I just use a scottoiler and never clean the chain unless it is really full of crud. Paraffin is the cleaner of choice then.

WD40 can cause rubber and seals to swell which ends up allowing dirt and grease past the seal. I've seen this myself, as well as with Brake Cleaner though thankfully the part was a proper seal so no huge issue for me at the time (this was on the car)

If I wanted to make a life-long career out of
working with the mentally retarded I would have opened a Harley Davidson Dealership!
I use this and have still all fingersĀ
![]() http://www.kettenmax.com/product_info.ph...rbike.html A simple idea but it works very good. To clean the chain I use diesel which is nearly the same as paraffin. Both will do no harm to the o-rings. With petrol I would not be sure.

The issue I find with stuff like that is you then spend the same amount of time again cleaning the cleaner
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
