Yes, the USD forks look better and I like the Gen II top yoke more than the modded R1 yoke on mine. However, like Kosmic, I fitted R1 forks primarily to improve the handling and ride. For me, function takes precedence over form when it comes to mods. Not that I'd intentionally fit anything ugly to my bike just to improve performance, of course.
Apart from the coloured side panels and polished rims, all the mods on my bike are primarily functional upgrades. Not everyone approaches the modding thing from the same direction and that's why we have the occasional discussion about the technical merits versus the visual aspects of a mod. It would be a shame if personal sensitivities shut out those exchanges. The forum would become dull and predictable if it went that way.
