hi I've tried everything so far. What about putting a switch
to the relay near the battery cos it starts by doing that would it do any harm ?

Perhaps we can pin it down rather than bodging a solution.
If changing the cut-out relay hasn't cured things that just leaves the wiring and connectors as suspects doesn't it? I think you've changed everything else. Might be worth checking the voltage at the black wire on the cut-out relay... with everything ready to go it should be at 12v, and drop to 0v while you thumb the starter button.

Cheers mate I'll give that a go at the weekend. If not it's going to be a shop bill
to get this sorted can't be bumping it for ever.

Another thing you might try: hold the starter button down whilst slowly turning the bars from one side to the other. If there's a broken wire that sometimes makes contact it's quite likely to be at the point where the cable bundle flexes.

Since my last post its only done it twice. but will do that on Sunday as I'm in work tomorrow
at 0430 cheers

You have my sympathy.
I did 4am starts for a while: absolutely hated it... after doing them for a while a midnight start 12 hour shift seemed like luxury. :lol
Corrosion on the starter button contacts.
Open the switch spray it with wd40 and operate it with ignition of 4 or 5 time and then try it. If that does not solve it remove the button and clean the contacts with fine emery paper, reassemble and off you go

nop that didn't work either mate .done everything i can do now
It's time to put it in the work shop now I think

Open the box of connectors under the tank. Dismanntle them all and check them. spray with WD40 before reassembly.
Did you disassembe the right hand handle bar switch unit? I have found that in the older bikes and bikes that are not used regularly the contacts of the kill switch corrode or wear and either need replacing or cleaning. Again try spraying the kill switch contacts wiht WD40. Do you know of anybody you could borrow the right hand switch assembly from to try? Most of the problems you describe that I have come accross have been the contacts in the starter button, the kill switch or the ignition switch. You could by pass the ignition switch to rule it out, but you would need to be confident in what you are doing to take it on.

Hi ya yeah I did do the right hand switch, as for the kill
button I've never used it . If it was the ignition surly you couldn't bump start it ?
06-05-13, 12:56 PM
Vibration of the bumping could be helping which also points to a loose connection somewhere which is why I suggested cleaning all the connections in the box under the tank

Next time it happens try holding the starter button in and jiggle all the connectors you can think of one at a time and see if it comes to life. When it happens do you lose everything electrical or just the starter?
06-05-13, 04:45 PM
Just the starter button guy's ,some times after i have pressed the starter
but wait 40-50 secs it may start then. Tried wobbling every wire but nothing.
07-05-13, 12:33 AM
Have you checked the starter motor itself?
07-05-13, 07:34 AM
Hi unfazed, it's had a new switch, starter relay, starter,
Starter lead, cut-off relay. still doing it the only thing it could be is Ignition ?
07-05-13, 09:17 AM
Do you have a way to disable the immobileser if it has one?
07-05-13, 10:15 AM
hi ya not sure mate, but it does start if you put a spanner on the starter relay

If that did/does not help let me know and I will explain how to bypass the ignition if you want to try it.
