How can I make the FZ6 clutch less snatchy?
#1
I've posted this on the FB forum too, but for anyone who doesn't read that...
Does anyone know a way of making the FZ6's clutch less "snatchy"?
I don't know why, but I'm starting to find it harder to make a smooth pull-away or shift between first and second Sad

When I had my 6 the clutch was very heavy,I changed the cable for a new one, made a big difference to the feel, it may be your cable is not smooth and giving you a snatchy action.
If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.

Go hydraulic. Not exactly cheap, but smooth, consistent pick up, and a lot lighter action

Hydraulic is probably a bit much for the moment, but I'm going to switch the clutch cable for a new one as it still has the original one at the moment.

Also someone on Facebook suggested using the FZ07 clutch arm instead which is a bit longer, so gives you more time in the friction zone :thumbup

Has it been snatchy since the replacement motor was fitted?

No, it was like that already. The new motor had only done 17.5k (it'd only done about 1,500 miles a year!) and hadn't been ragged.

I've just ordered the MT07 (FZ07) clutch arm 1WS-16340-00 from Fowlers Parts although they've got to get in it from their Europe shop. I6 was £26 including shipping which was the cheapest I could find it, elsewhere it was £31.

When I get it, I'm going to install it and the new clutch cable which should sort things out :thumbup

I thought you meant the bar lever. You could have had this for nowt. I made it when I first started having trouble with my hand, later superseded by the hydraulic unit. It actually worked.

The one I mention above is back ordered, I can take that one off your hands if it'll fit a FZ6-SA 2006 and cancel the one on back order. Drop me a PM.
