Gotta love that attitude....

Bikes are about freedom of choice I reckon, every individuals got a  right to choose what they wear to ride, it's their life, their skin, their choice.
I ride more and more these days in a piss pot, to me for the pleasure I get from feeling the elements on my face on a warm day it's worlds better than being cocooned in a full face

True.
Apart from those who have to help clear up the mess if it goes wrong, or passersby/witnesses who may well be children.
So don't be naive enough to think it is only going to affect you.

So the thing to do is use a car, with seat belts air bags etc. Many sports should be stopped because they cause injuries for others to clear up. drinking alcohol is a burden to society so should be band.

Living a messy activity.

If thats the case then why aren't smokers made responsible for the trauma of putting their family why they die of cancer? If I crash its my own stupid fault and don't ask any help from anyone. I have ridden (and crashed) in jeans and hoodie before and I still do it because its MY CHOICE. BTW just ridden home from work in jeans, trainers, hoody, MX gloves, & my lid at high speed on one of the busiest dual carriageways in the country.... Still breathing and intact

Nah, just sick of seeing this same topic on every single forum. Sick of the safety Nazis (on the net and everywhere I seem to go) telling me that I am not wearing proper kit. Even the Rozzers the other day had a pop when I was filling up with fuel. I guess its just that time of year

If it genuinly fucks other people off, it's their problem, not yours. I'm riding more and more like I did in the seventies, and dressing like I did then too. I just enjoy that whole vintage vibe, hence the bikes I use the most now are 32 and 37 years old. Comfy and relaxed  is safe as far as it goes for me and the way I ride nowadays

A guys lets design something safe for summer roads, Wink

Something with  airbags, safety cage four wheels, so you don't have to prop it up when it's not in motion.
How about fitting traction control, automatic braking sensor, proximity sensor.

Anybody who risks their lives in anything less must be mad and have no consideration for their family friends and the poor sod that smidsy's them.

Yup every foccing year out come the safety police telling us what to wear.

Makes you wanna go out for a ride wearing just a jock strap and a hat  :eek :eek :eek

Well just a thought - umm you know.

As far as I concerned it's pretty fucking dumb overheating and dehydrating trying to ride yer bike dressed in full heavy duty bike gear.

Anyway I'm back in my leathers, heat wave is over up here, shorts are packed away again.

Weather is still not the worst up here VNA. I rode to work today in just my jacket (all vents open), some normal jeans, summer gloves and my boots.

I agree, riding in jeans is not without it's risks, but I find riding in full regalia in heat to be so distracting it's dangerous in itself, so for me I feel safer in jeans. Obviously i adjust my riding style a little when in normal clothes, but it's a risk I'm willing to take - even after previously been flung up the road with jeans on and feeling the aftermath!

Just seen a visor down post on this in another forum...it all gets a bit nasty sometimes. Makes you appreciate forums like this and the people who use it.
The thing is we are all doin our own thing, riding our own bikes, wearing whatever we want to wear...the one thing that unites us all is a love of bikes, nothing should get in the way of that, I honestly don't see the point of any acrimony over it. Ride safe fellers, whatever you wear..

The European Commission has recently launched a proposal for a Regulation on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). FEMA insists that the use of personal protective equipment should always be optional for the rider.

Yeah, and what's next? You must wear thick gloves for gardening, or face fines and imprisonment? You must do a training course to use a ladder at home when decorating? What about those cooker hobs? Will they ban deep fat frying? No more perfect chips at home?

Talk about a nannying state; will we all have to have a personal supervisor wherever we go?

And those ambulances - they could run people over!  :eek
